As reported by Open4Business, Ukraine on the night of 24 On October 25, 2026, it will switch to winter time, turning the clocks back one hour. At 04:00 Kyiv time, the hands will have to be moved to 03:00, in accordance with the current resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 509 of May 13, 1996.
Thus, Sunday, October 25, will last 25 hours, and Ukraine will switch from summer time UTC+3 to standard UTC+2.
Most modern smartphones, computers and other electronic devices will change the time automatically if the time zone is correctly set. Mechanical clocks and some electronic devices will have to be changed manually.
Uncertainty surrounding the cancellation of seasonal time change remains a feature of this year's transition. As early as July 16, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 4201 "On Calculating Time in Ukraine", which provides for the rejection of the annual transition to daylight saving time and the establishment of the permanent Kyiv time UTC+2.
The document was supported by 261 people's deputies. On August 21, 2024, it was sent to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for signature. However, as of October 2026, the law has not been signed and has not entered into force.
Therefore, the government decree continues to apply in Ukraine, according to which the clocks are changed twice a year: on the last Sunday of March by one hour forward and on the last Sunday of October by one hour back.
At the same time as Ukraine, on October 25 most European countries will switch to winter time, including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro.
At the same time, the time difference between Ukraine and the countries of Central Europe will remain unchanged. In particular, Kyiv will be one hour ahead of Warsaw, Belgrade, and Budapest.
The transition to standard time will mean that the clock will light up earlier in the morning, but it will get dark about an hour earlier in the evening.
Ukraine's next transition to summer time according to the current rules should take place on March 28, 2027, if the legislation is not changed by then.
