Ukraine’s industrial production falls 9.2% in September

Industrial production in Ukraine in September 2026 decreased by 9.2% compared to the same month in 2025 after falling by 6.1% in August and 1.7% in July, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine (Derzhstat) reported on 3 November.

According to the statistical agency, in September compared to August 2026 industrial production increased by 2.7%.

Overall, in January-September 2026 the volume of industrial production decreased by 1.9% compared to the same period last year.

Thus, the decline in industrial production in annual terms is accelerating for the third month in a row. If in May growth was recorded at 0.3%, and in June at 1.1%, then already in July industry returned to negative dynamics.

Meanwhile, over the eight months of 2026 the decline in industrial production was 1%, and after accounting for the September results, it deepened to 1.9%.

The most negative dynamics over nine months were observed in metallurgical production, where the volume of product output decreased by 18.2%. In the production of coke and petroleum products, the decline was 18.1%, in the production of electrical equipment - 17.8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and conditioned air - 16.7%.

At the same time, some sectors demonstrated growth. In particular, the production of machinery and equipment increased by 36.5%, computers, electronic and optical products - by 17.1%, food products - by 2.8%, chemical products - by 2.7%.

Thus, Ukraine's industry shows mixed dynamics: growth in certain segments of mechanical engineering and processing is accompanied by a significant reduction in production in basic industrial sectors.

As reported, for the results of 2025 industry production in Ukraine decreased by 1.7%, while in 2024 growth of 4.7% was recorded.

Data from the State Statistics Service is provided without taking into account territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and parts of territories where combat operations are ongoing or have taken place.
