The future NovaSklo plant will produce about 800 tons of glass per day

The NovaSklo company, which is part of the Ukrainian investment group EFI Group, has moved to the next practical stage of the implementation of the project of the first modern float glass plant in Ukraine worth about 250 million euros — the company has started the selection of a general contractor for construction enterprise.

The competition was announced on September 18, 2026. NovaSklo is looking for a contractor capable of performing a full range of construction works for a large industrial facility.

The project is being implemented in Velyka Dymerka, Kyiv region, approximately 25 km from Kyiv. According to the materials of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the future plant is designed to produce about 800 tons of glass per day. The company will produce transparent, especially transparent, energy-efficient glass with coatings and tempered glass.

IFC provides consulting support to the project together with Japan. The corporation indicates the estimated cost of the enterprise at the level of €250 million, and the start of construction is planned for the end of 2026, with the subsequent commissioning of the enterprise in 2028.

The international component of the project is not limited to IFC financing and consultations. NovaSklo's technological partner is Pilkington Technology Management, part of the Japanese NSG Group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of architectural and automotive glass.

NSG specialists should accompany the project at the design stages, construction and the launch of a production line, including optimization of technology, energy efficiency and industrial safety systems.

After reaching the project capacity, the enterprise should create more than 300 jobs and become the first large Ukrainian float glass production.

The economic effect of the project can go far beyond the boundaries of the enterprise itself. Ukraine remains dependent on imported sheet glass, while the restoration of housing, commercial real estate and infrastructure in the coming years can generate significant domestic demand.

The emergence of own production will allow to replace part of imports and create a local raw material and processing chain for manufacturers of windows, facade systems, double-glazed windows and other building materials.

At the same time, NovaSklo is forming an international supply chain even before the plant is launched. In June 2026, NovaSklo Trade concluded an exclusive agreement on the distribution of Pilkington architectural glass in Ukraine.
