As of 3 November 2026, Ukrainian agrarians had dug up 5.07 million tonnes of sugar beets from an area of 102.2 thousand hectares, which is 25.4% less than the operational indicator on 31 October 2025, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported.
According to the agency, by the beginning of November, sugar beet harvesting had been conducted on 59.8% of the projected areas.
For comparison, on 31 October 2025, 6.79 million tonnes of root crops had been dug up from 130 thousand hectares, or 66% of the then projected areas.
Thus, the current gross harvest of sugar beets lags behind last year's by approximately 1.73 million tonnes.
One of the reasons for the lower production volumes is the smaller area of harvesting. As of the beginning of November of the current year, it amounted to 102.2 thousand hectares against 130 thousand hectares last year, decreasing by 21.4%.
At the same time, the average yield of sugar beets in 2026 is 496.1 centners per hectare against 522.6 centners per hectare for the analogous operational data of 2025.
The decrease in yield amounts to approximately 5.1%.
According to the current indicators, about 68.7 thousand hectares, or 40.2% of the projected area, remain to be harvested before the completion of sugar beet harvesting.
Sugar beets are the main raw material for the Ukrainian sugar industry. The volumes of their production directly affect the loading of sugar factories, the cost of processing, and the formation of sugar supply on the domestic market.
At the same time, the current reduction in gross harvest does not mean an analogous decrease in the production of finished sugar, since its volumes also depend on the sugar content of the root crops, the efficiency of processing, and the completion of the season.
The final results of sugar beet production in 2026 will be known after the completion of the harvesting campaign.
