The positive attitude of Ukrainians towards Switzerland remains high — Experts Club study

Switzerland maintains a high level of positive perception among Ukrainians: in August 2026, 66.9% of respondents have a positive attitude towards the country, while only 1.4% have a negative attitude. Compared to March, the share of positive assessments decreased slightly, but the general structure of public opinion remains stable, reports the information and analytical center Experts Club.

According to the results of the August poll, 28.2% of Ukrainians have a completely positive attitude towards Switzerland, mostly positive — 38.7%. 29.7% of respondents take a neutral position. For the most part, 1.2% evaluate the country negatively, only 0.2% completely negatively, another 2% could not decide.

The balance of positive and negative evaluations is plus 65.5 percentage points. Thus, a positive attitude outweighs a negative one by almost 48 times. According to this indicator, Switzerland remains among the countries with the highest level of public support of Ukrainians.

In March 2026, positive to Switzerland was viewed by 67.8% of respondents: 29.6% were completely positive and 38.2% were mostly positive. 30.1% of respondents took a neutral position, only about 0.7% evaluated the country negatively, another 1.4% could not decide.

Thus, in five months, the share of positive evaluations decreased by only 0.9 percentage points. — from 67.8% to 66.9%. There were 0.7 percentage points of negative responses. more, while the neutral segment practically did not change — 30.1% in March against 29.7% in August. The balance of positive and negative attitudes decreased from approximately plus 67.1 to plus 65.5 percentage points.

The internal structure of positive responses also remains stable. The share of completely positive evaluations decreased from 29.6% to 28.2%, while mostly positive ones even increased slightly — from 38.2% to 38.7%. This indicates minor fluctuations in public opinion rather than a significant change in the perception of the country.

Director of the research company Active Group Oleksandr Pozniy, commenting on the results of the previous wave of research, drew attention to the stable nature of the positive image of Switzerland.

"Switzerland is traditionally perceived by Ukrainians as a stable and neutral country with a high level of trust. At the same time, we see that some of the respondents are moving to a neutral position, which may be due to less visibility of specific actions or projects. This does not mean a deterioration of the image, but rather indicates the need for more active communication," said Pozniy.

The new wave actually confirms the stability of the ratings: the shares of positive and neutral responses changed by less than one percentage point. The negative segment, despite a small increase, remains minimal — Switzerland is negatively evaluated by less than 2% of respondents.

The previous wave of the study was conducted in March 2026 among 800 citizens of Ukraine aged 18 and over by self-filling online questionnaires in the SunFlowerSociology panel. The sample was representative in terms of age, gender and region, the maximum theoretical error for indicators at the 50% level was ±3.5 percentage points.
