Ukraine increased the export of manganese ore almost four times in nine months

As reported by Open4Business, Ukraine in January-September 2026 increased the export of manganese ore by 3.76 times compared to the same period last year - to 36,598 thousand tons from 9,739 thousand tons, according to the data of the State Customs Service.
In monetary terms, exports increased almost fourfold - to $6,393 million against $1,615 million in nine months of 2025. Thus, foreign currency earnings increased by 296%, while the physical volume of deliveries - by 276%.
According to the results of nine months of this year, Ukraine has already exceeded the volume of manganese ore exports for the entire year 2025 by 64.3%. Last year, 22,281,000 tons of this raw material were shipped abroad for $3,599 million.
At the same time, export receipts for January-September 2026 exceeded the result of the entire last year by 77.6%.
The estimated average customs value of exported manganese ore for the nine months of the current year was about $175 per ton against $166 per ton for similar period of 2025. Thus, the increase in foreign currency receipts was ensured mainly by the growth of physical export volumes.
The most active month of the current year was September, when Ukraine shipped 8.44 thousand tons of manganese ore abroad. This is 2.4 times more than in August, and almost 4.9 times more than in September last year.
In 2025, the largest foreign market for Ukrainian manganese ore was Slovakia, which accounted for 99.22% of export revenue. Another 0.78% of revenues was provided by Poland.
The recovery of exports is taking place against the background of the gradual recovery of manganese concentrate production in Ukraine. In particular, the Pokrovsky mining and processing plant produced 63.9 thousand tons of concentrate in 2025 after the plant was idle in 2024.
In the previously approved production plans for 2026, the plant provided for a 3.44-fold increase in concentrate output to 220 thousand tons. The actual implementation of this annual plan currently requires confirmation based on the results of the reporting period.
Pokrovsky GZK is one of the main producers of manganese raw materials in Ukraine. The enterprise carries out open mining of oxide, carbonate and oxide-carbonate ores, their enrichment and production of manganese concentrate and agglomerate. The main domestic consumers of such products are enterprises of the ferroalloy industry.
