Ukrainians maintain a high level of trust in Germany

The results of a sociological survey of public opinion, conducted in March 2026 by the research company Active Group together with the information and analytical center Experts Club, indicate a consistently high level of positive attitude of Ukrainians towards Germany. In total, 77.4% of respondents evaluate the country positively, while only 3.5% of respondents have a negative attitude. Compared to August 2025, the indicators have practically not changed: positive assessments have increased slightly (from 76.7%), and negative ones have even decreased somewhat (from 4.0%).

The structure of the answers shows the dominance of stable positive perception. The share of those who chose the option "completely positive" is 32.9%, while "mostly positive" is 44.5%. This means that the vast majority of respondents are not just inclined to evaluate Germany positively, but do so confidently and without significant reservations.

At the same time, the share of neutral assessments is 18.4%, which is a moderate indicator and indicates a sufficiently formed attitude towards the country. Negative assessments remain minimal: 2.8% of respondents chose the option "mostly negative", and only 0.7% - "completely negative". This level of negativity is one of the lowest among Ukraine's key international partners.

The stability of indicators in dynamics confirms that the attitude towards Germany has a long-term nature and is not subject to significant fluctuations under the influence of short-term factors. Unlike some other countries, where there is an increase in polarization or a shift in assessments, in the case of Germany, public opinion remains consolidated.

From an analytical point of view, this indicates a high level of trust and a stable image of the country in Ukrainian society. The combination of a significant share of "completely positive" and "mostly positive" answers indicates that Germany is perceived not only as an important partner, but also as a reliable and predictable participant in international processes.

"In the case of Germany, we see one of the highest levels of stable positive perception among all countries. This means that the assessment is not formed situationally, but on the basis of long-term experience of interaction and clear ideas about the role of this state. Such indicators indicate a high level of trust in society," said Oleksandr Pozniy, director of the Active Group research company.

In general, the research results show that Germany occupies a special place in Ukrainians' perceptions of international partners. The combination of a high level of positivity, minimal negativity and stable dynamics indicates a formed and stable positive image, which, unlike other countries, is almost impervious to fluctuations in the short term.

According to a study conducted by the Experts Club information and analytical center based on data from the State Customs Service, Germany is among the three largest trade partners of Ukraine with a total trade volume of more than $9 billion. A significant volume of imports of German goods forms a negative balance, which indicates a high demand for the products of German industry.

The study was presented in the press center of "Interfax-Ukraine", the video can be viewed on the agency's YouTube channel. The full version of the study can be found at this link on the website of the analytical center Experts Club.
