USDA did not change the forecast of Ukrainian corn exports in 2026/2027 MY

As reported by Open4business, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in In the July report, WASDE left the forecast for corn production in Ukraine in the 2026/27 marketing year unchanged at 30 million tons.

The forecast for Ukrainian corn exports was also not revised and amounts to 23 million tons. According to the WASDE tables, the July estimate for Ukraine for FY 2026/27 indicates production of 30 million tons, exports of 23 million tons, and ending stocks of 2.06 million tons.

For FY 2025/26, the USDA estimates corn harvest in Ukraine at 30.9 million tons, exports at 23 million tons. Thus, compared to the current season, the new forecast predicts a slight decrease in production, but the preservation of export potential at the previous level.

In the global corn balance, the USDA in July lowered the production forecast for 2026/27 MG to 1.297 billion tons from 1.300 billion tons a month earlier. The main decrease is related to the European Union and Kenya, while the forecast for Ukraine has not changed.

World corn exports in 2026/27 MR, on the contrary, were increased to 209.88 million tons from 207.61 million tons in June. The USDA also lowered its forecast for global maize ending stocks to 275.26 million tonnes, down from 281.22 million tonnes in the June report.

The WASDE brief said global maize production was reduced due to a worsening outlook in the EU and Kenya. For the EU, the decrease is primarily due to the heat in France and the reduction of the forecast for Hungary.

Ukraine's corn forecast remains sensitive to the weather in the second half of summer. Corn is more dependent on rainfall and temperature in July-August, so actual yield may differ significantly from the current USDA estimate.
