Wheat prices in Ukraine have reached a seasonal high

The prices for wheat in Ukraine have renewed the seasonal maximum and reached 10.5 thousand hryvnias/ton, while the demand for grain remains active. The market is supported by limited supply from farmers and stable interest from buyers.

According to industry analysts, the current price of wheat is about UAH 10.5 thousand/ton, which is 8-10% higher than last year's level. Producers, who previously postponed sales in anticipation of a better price, now have a stronger negotiating position.

The main factor of growth remains active demand with restrained sales by farmers. Some farmers are in no hurry to bring grain to the market, expecting a further increase in prices or a clearer situation with the new harvest.

Additional support for prices is provided by the state of crops and expectations about the harvest. Despite the cold spring and the delay in sowing, the grain harvest forecast in Ukraine for 2026 remains at the level of about 60.4 million tons, including wheat — 22.4 million tons.

For Ukrainian farmers, the increase in prices partially compensates for the increase in the cost of production, logistics, fuel, storage and financial costs. However, for processors and exporters, expensive wheat means tougher competition for raw materials and lower margins.

The situation on the foreign market remains ambiguous. On the one hand, global import demand for wheat is growing: the USDA forecast reported that global imports could increase to 218.3 million tons. On the other hand, fluctuations in world quotations limit the potential for further growth of Ukrainian prices.
