For five months, the share of positive of grades increased by approximately 1.6 percentage points. - up to 65.2%. At the same time, there were changes within the positive group: the share of completely positive answers increased by 5 percentage points. - from 18.9% to 23.9%, while mostly positive ones slightly decreased. The share of neutral assessments decreased from 33.6% to 31.3%.

This continues the positive dynamics recorded in the previous waves of the study: in August 2025, the balance of positive and negative attitudes towards Spain was about plus 52 pp, in March 2026 - about plus 62.7 pp, and in August - plus 63.6 v. p.

At the same time, Spain remains not only one of the most positively perceived European countries, but also one of the most profitable trade partners of Ukraine. Over the last period, Spain is among the leaders in terms of a positive trade balance for Ukraine, that is, Ukrainian exports to this country significantly exceed imports. This makes the Spanish direction particularly important from the point of view of foreign exchange earnings, diversification of exports and the presence of Ukrainian business on the EU market.

The founder of the Experts Club information and analytical center Maksym Urakin notes that in this case the positive public image of the country is combined with a real economic benefit for Ukraine.

"Spain is not only a country with a consistently positive image among Ukrainians, but also one of the most profitable economic partners of Ukraine. Recently, it has demonstrated a very strong position in bilateral trade and stands out as one of the leaders in terms of a positive trade balance for Ukraine. The combination of economic benefit, political support, humanitarian openness and a positive attitude of society forms a very solid basis for the further development of Ukrainian-Spanish relations," Urakin noted.

Director of the research company Active Group Oleksandr Pozniy linked the positive perception of Spain with a complex of political, humanitarian and social factors.

"Spain actively supports Ukraine on international platforms, provides humanitarian aid and creates favorable conditions for Ukrainians immigrants At the same time, cultural openness and traditional ties between our peoples strengthen this positive image. Therefore, the level of mistrust or criticism of Spain in Ukrainian society is practically absent," Pozniy noted.

The new wave of research generally confirms this trend. The increase in the share of completely positive evaluations with an extremely low level of negativity indicates the preservation of a stable positive image of Spain among the Ukrainian audience.

The survey was conducted in August 2026 by the method of self-completion of online questionnaires in the SunFlowerSociology panel among 800 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over. In the previous March wave, 800 respondents were also interviewed, and the sample was representative in terms of age, gender and region.
