The positive attitude of Ukrainians towards Uzbekistan has increased to 25.7% — Experts Club study

In August 2026, the attitude of Ukrainians towards Uzbekistan remains mostly neutral: this position is held by 55.6% of respondents. According to the sum of the above categories, 25.7% of respondents evaluate the country positively, 14.5% negatively, reports the information and analytical center Experts Club. In the consolidated material of the study, the positive indicator is given as 25.6%, which is explained by the rounding of the original data.

6.5% of Ukrainians have a completely positive attitude towards Uzbekistan, 19.2% are mostly positive. 55.6% of respondents chose a neutral answer. For the most part, 13.1% evaluate the country negatively, 1.4% completely negatively, another 4.3% could not decide.

By the sum of the categories, the balance of positive and negative attitudes is plus 11.2 percentage points. Positive evaluations thus outweigh negative ones by approximately 1.8 times. At the same time, more than half of the respondents do not show a pronounced positive or negative position towards the country.

Uzbekistan in the general regional picture has a less pronounced positive image than Georgia and Azerbaijan. For Georgia, positive assessments in August amounted to 57.3%, for Azerbaijan - 48.7%, while the key feature of the perception of Uzbekistan remains a high proportion of neutral responses.

At the same time, compared to the April 2025 survey, attitudes have become more defined. At that time, 63.4% of Ukrainians took a neutral position regarding Uzbekistan, 21.7% were positive, 9.3% were negative, and 5.6% could not decide. Therefore, the positive segment increased by approximately 4 percentage points, the negative segment by 5.2 percentage points, and the share of neutral responses decreased by 7.8 percentage points.

The founder of the Experts Club information and analytical center, Candidate of Economic Sciences Maksym Urakin believes that the key feature of the perception of Uzbekistan remains the lack of awareness among Ukrainians about the current role of this country in Central Asia.

"Uzbekistan remains a rather distant country for a large part of Ukrainian society. People are much less exposed to information about its economy, business, politics, or humanitarian ties than in the case of the EU, the Caucasus, or Ukraine's closest neighbors. That is why the neutral group still exceeds half of the respondents," Urakin said.

At the same time, according to him, the reduction in the share of neutral responses from 63.4% in April 2025 to 55.6% in August 2026 is a more important signal than a separate increase in positive or negative evaluations.

"We see the gradual formation of a more defined image of Uzbekistan. Some of the respondents move from a neutral position to a specific assessment of the country. At the same time, the positive attitude still significantly outweighs the negative. This means that there is a sufficiently favorable basis for the development of economic, educational, cultural and humanitarian contacts, but the image of Uzbekistan in Ukraine still needs a greater informational presence," added Urakin.

The current results partially confirm this assessment: the neutral group remains the largest, but compared to 2025, it has noticeably decreased. The simultaneous growth of both positive and negative responses indicates, first of all, the gradual formation of a more defined attitude towards Uzbekistan.

The survey was conducted in August 2026 by the method of online self-completion of questionnaires in the SunFlowerSociology panel among 800 citizens of Ukraine aged 18 and over. The sample is representative by age, gender and region, the maximum theoretical error for indicators at the level of 50% is ±3.5 percentage points.
